Stepping out for a walk is a joyous occasion!

A walk can provide many benefits. Fresh air, new sights, new delicious smells... You may pass a bakery, how does the freshly cooked bread make you feel, besides hungry!? Your neighbour's may have new flowers blooming, or it could be Autumn with the gorgeous Autumn leaves shedding. It could even be the beach and the water, with shells to collect and toes to be dipped in the calming water.

A walk most often can brighten your mood. Did you know the clothes you choose can also help to lift your mood?

 

We hear about the benefits of walking everyday and of course during the last eighteen months it has been the one constant that many in Australia have undertaken as their staple 1-2 hours allowed exercise.

Some of the well known benefits are:

  • Increased cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) fitness.
  • Reduced risk of heart disease and stroke.
  • Improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain or stiffness, and diabetes.
  • Stronger bones and improved balance.

These are all key health benefits, and the studies have shown us that some form of exercise for 30 minutes per day can also boost serotonin and dopamine levels, often referred to as our Happy Hormones.

 

Stepping out for a walk is one of these activities that can boost a mood. It's something anyone can do and its free! Adding a gorgeous pair of leggings and a super comfy top will also put you in the right frame of mind for your walk, no fear of bumping into anyone and not looking the part! Always happens to me when I duck to the shop in my daggy trackies and bump into mums from school! 

I hear quite a bit from people who are feeling they haven't the got the right gear or "look" for any of these physical activities, which is really just an excuse as we all know you can walk in anything! Well, maybe not too far in your 6 inch heels, but that said there never really was a "look" for taking a walk, maybe many years ago out for a stroll in our Sunday best and an appropriate hat . It really does seem these days Activewear has been crowned as the new uniform for a walk, a catch up at the coffee shops, and of course your exercise group, be it Yoga, Pilates or a group fitness, maybe even dance classes or walk from home.

We felt it was really important for people to feel amazing and supported in their Activewear and for it to be a reflection of their personalities. When your Activewear looks good, you feel good and when you feel good you are way more likely to want to get out and go for a walk or join in an exercise group. Everyone wants to feel included and fit in, feeling like we belong somewhere and having a tribe of like minded people is an important factor in how we determine the activity we will undertake. If you find a group activity that is fun and the people are inclusive, you are much more likely to continue to go for the community not just the exercise.

You will also find this with leggings. We have fun, functional and funky leggings, with designs that help people to express themselves through the designs and/or the colour - think chubby unicorns, chubby runners, roller skates! We find people are drawn to the bright colours and many have fed back the comments and compliments they have received wearing beautiful designs and comfortable fitting leggings.
